Initially gaining a cult following, X would rise to prominence in the music world and collaborate with some of the biggest artists in the world. A truly unique artist that was never bound by a genre, X explored everything from emo to trap and metal to R&B. While his career was unfortunately cut short after his death in 2018, X’s despairing lyrics resonated with millions of fans. 1. Revenge

The lead track from X’s debut studio album, Revenge, was released in 2017. Regrettably, five days prior to the passing of his friend Jocelyn Flores, a preview of the album appeared on Twitter. 3. Hope xxxtentacion

Hope was devoted to the Parkland shooting victims rather than any of X’s friends, in contrast to the first two entries. The song attempts to empathize to the survivors in terms of survivors’ guilt and rails against the political inertia that followed the incident, even if the singer does not claim to fully comprehend what the survivors were going through.

The song received a triple platinum certification from the US RIAA and reached its peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 70. Hope strikes a clear positive chord, feeling more like an emotional release than something that wallows in those depressing emotions, in contrast to much of his work, which was the musical embodiment of hopelessness and loneliness.
